We were married in November 2013 and have been based in Cambridge, New Zealand since. Jared is a self-employed builder and enjoys most things practical. I (Jess) have just qualified as a social worker and enjoy working with people, usually the younger generation!
Jared grew up in Cambridge before his family moved to Ivory Coast when he was 4. His parents were involved with a mission organisation called Sowers International. This involved travel back and forth between Africa and NZ with stops in Europe on the way. Jared and his siblings were exposed to many different cultures from a young age. When civil war broke out in Ivory Coast in 2000 they returned to New Zealand and settled back into life in Cambridge.
I (Jess) grew up in Opotiki, New Zealand. I went to primary school in Opotiki and boarding school in Cambridge for most of my secondary years. My parents ran an accomodation business and my Dads work involved photography of international car rallys, so I too was exposed to many different cultures from a young age.
Our paths collided sometime in 2007 at youth group in Cambridge and the rest is history (and far too complicated to explain!)
